AECOM has an immediate requirement for a Lead Design Engineer to join our existing team in Glasgow. The Lead Design Engineer will manage evolving projects and design teams, as directed by the project manager, to support the delivery of a £360 million of Design and Construct capital investment in potable water infrastructure on behalf of Scottish Water over the next four years.
The successful applicant will have significant design experience to lead on major civil engineering schemes in particular water industry and water and drainage infrastructure projects. They will provide valuable support to Project Managers throughout the project design and delivery cycle, identifying the need for design resources and specialist input (ecological, geotechnical, hydraulic modelling, MEICA etc.)
In addition, candidates should also be able to demonstrate good written and oral communication skills, the ability to interface effectively with external stakeholders and a focus on delivering best value for AECOM’s Clients. The Lead Design Engineer will also take responsibility of mentoring technical design staff and helping to provide opportunities for learning and development.
Engineering degree qualified.
Chartered Engineer Status (or approaching chartered status).
Experience in the full cycle of project design delivery from inception to detailed design.
Sufficient experience to lead major water and drainage infrastructure engineering projects.
Civil Engineering degree qualified
Significant experience in managing the technical delivery of large scale water engineering projects
Project management experience (though not essential)
Industry recognised Health and Safety qualifications
Experience of having undertaken a mentoring role in developing staff capabilities
